Every year when my birthday comes along, I feel like my new year is just starting again. It’s my version of New Year’s. So May 17 serves as my January 1. When’s your new year start? I look back at another year gone by. Last year, I got off to a rough start. I made […]

Dating and Trying Not to Get Caught Up in the Politics of It All

A lot of things change when you start dating. Basically every relationship you have is affected in one way or another. Your schedule changes. Your emotions change. Everything feels like it’s on fire. In a time when I can’t find the words to describe my feelings, Alanis Morisette nails it with her song Ironic. Yesterday, I read a post entitled “Everybody Deserves a Broken Heart.” It amazes me how our lives are not coincidental, and although I like to occasionally call life ironic, I know there’s a bigger plan taking […]

Not Meant to Be

Many people talk about break-ups with significant others, but rarely do people mention friendship break-ups. I’m feeling especially inspired given that within the course of the year’s first three months, I’ve had a few friendships either break-up, come together, or slowly pull apart at the seam. All very different situations, all very different people. All […]
